Thursday Recs

Phew, on time for once!

Do you have a rec for this week? Just reply to this post with something queer or queer-adjacent (such as, soap made by a queer person that isn't necessarily queer themed) that you'd, well, recommend. Self-recs are welcome, as are recs for fandom-related content!

Or have you tried something that's been recced here? Do you have your own report to share about it? I'd love to hear about it!

It's not specifically queer but the #dollstakeastand hashtag (on Instagram and BlueSky, possibly elsewhere as well?) has a lot of queer creators and (miniature!) pride-theme protest signs.

I just finished Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli and was completely blown away. Albertalli’s work can be hit or miss for me, but this was SUCH a hit. In the main character’s struggle to explore her sexuality in spite of having a coming-out narrative different from the rest of her queer friend group, I rediscovered long-forgotten feelings. I didn’t QUITE tear up when the late-book central conflict resolved, but it was a close thing.

YA, early college coming-of-age. F/F. Absolutely delightful.

Ooh, maybe I should give it a try. I can't remember what I've read of Albertalli's, and thus don't have an opinion, but alternate coming out narrative sounds interesting.

While The Locked Tomb series is well known, right now Nona the Ninth is on sale for $2.99 on Kindle and Kobo.
