Yesterday, I ended up going to bed almost as soon as I got home from work. Sadly, this means that it wasn't until entirely too early this morning that May 24th is, in fact, Pansexual Visibility Day. I guess you could say I was... *sunglasses* Panfully unaware. This is a real bummer, because I think it would have been a super cool first even to celebrate here on [community profile] queerly_beloved! (Side note, I am totally down for doing a late celebration/observation, if anyone is interested.)

Still, it did get me thinking more actively about events and celebrations in this community. I'll absolutely be hitting Pansexual Visibility Day next year, and there's the Trans Day of Remembrance and Visibility, Ace Awareness Week, Celebrate Bisexuality Week/Day, and US Pride Month right around the corner. There are probably dozens of other queer holidays and events I don't know about, or may know of and don't remember when they're scheduled. And then there are some non-queer holidays, events, and observations that I think it would be important to acknowledge and/or celebrate in this community; Juneteenth is but one possible example.

What are some special events that you in the community think it would be cool to recognize? Is there a calendar out there with the dates for a bunch of queer celebration days and weeks? How do you think you'd like to see this community celebrate or acknowledge those occasions? I've been thinking of maybe doing some giveaways for June, would folks here be interested? What other sorts of things might you like to find here?

All that being said, I would also love it if you as community members felt comfortable making your own posts to celebrate various events. I know I'll miss a bunch (see above for evidence), and I don't want people waiting on me to get the party started.

Please let me know what you think in the comments! I'd love to get some input and suggestions.
