Recommended Reading (entry from a college-level textbook, ~ 1,000 words): Queer|Keywords for Disability Studies by Tim Dean (NYU Press)

Recommended viewing: Transphobia: An Analysis | Philosophy Tube October 12, 2018 (~ 24 minutes, with content warnings for discussions of transphobia, biphobia, and homophobia [in order to debunk them]) and Sex Work | Philosophy Tube May 17, 2019 (~44 minutes, with content warnings for [discussion of] police violence and sexual violence, but not graphic -- suitable for high school classrooms)

The man behind Philosophy Tube got his first Masters degree in Philosophy, and after the UK raised the price of university tuition, decided to share what he learned in his studies for free on YouTube. He got his second Master's degree in acting, and is a classically trained Shakespearean Actor. He combines both these skills in his videos, which are part lecture, part cinema, which is why they tend to run longer than average -- but they also go by fast, in my experience (like, faster than mainstream stuff done by PBS, for example.

His politics is Leftist/Marxist, and a lot of his videos are also funny. These two are the ones that most closely align with the interests of this community, though.

Name: JT
Age: Early thirties
Pronouns: The thing about being genderfluid on the internet is that you're not always available for people to ask what you're using at the moment, and I'm very bad at remembering to update profiles, so I default to "they".
Identities: Queer on almost every available axis. I'm not intersex, but I am aromantic, genderfluid, often transgender, bisexual (more attracted to men but my primary partner, also genderfluid, defaults to female pronouns), polyamorous, um... I feel like I'm forgetting some. On the not-queer side of things, I'm probably autistic and definitely have PTSD (both simple and complex). Kinky, agnostic-ish pagan-ish, mentally ill, overeducated in a spotty Great Books(TM) fashion, white.
Other accounts: I'm still fairly active on Tumblr as [tumblr.com profile] maryellencarter. I also have a Discord but I'm not... especially interested in adding people over there as opposed to here? *awkward face* And my AO3 is [archiveofourown.org profile] curuchamion, recent works under the pseud thedarlingone.

My interests: Oh, lordy, where to even begin. My current fandom is the Star Wars Legends X-wing novels, which is the main Discord server I'm active on. There's something like five whole fanfic authors active right now, including me and my coauthor/partner. For a microfandom from the late '90s, this is Very Exciting. ^_^ My normal POV character, Wes Janson, is very easy to read as aromantic pansexual from canon; I don't explicitly focus on writing him that way most of the time but it's always there underneath. (I also tend to write him as occupying the sort of autism/ADHD overlap space I inhabit, which is less clearly defensible from canon but I think it works.)

I can knit darn near anything but don't do much that requires attention anymore. I'm politically very left-wing but in that burned-out "please don't talk to me about politics anymore I just can't" sort of way. I've had a lot of different fandoms over the past ten or twelve years, mostly under other names due to Stuff. As far as what I talk about or might talk about on my journal... I'm still really just figuring out what to post. I'm still into Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer five years after it stopped updating? I tend to post about life stuff, whatever I'm enthusiastic about or thinking about at the moment; I might do more poetry, I know a lot of poetry. There was a rather lively discussion about interlibrary loan limitations the other day. :-) Not much in the way of queer theory - my formal education leaned more toward Aristotle and Aquinas - but sometimes a post takes a sharp left into thinky thoughts about religion or gender or what have you.
