Wow, that's so brave. I realized in 1997 that I was nonbinary ("bi-gender" I called it back then). As you no doubt know, there were only a tiny handful of people in the world talking about it online in those days. I looked at the support system I'd have - zero - and stayed in the closet for the next four years.

It was very liberating and empowering but not without its price tags. The things I was saying didn't make sense to a lot of people, they'd never heard any such thing. And their interpretation of me not making sense *to them* was that I simply didn't make any sense!
