Whoops, this is a little later in the day than I meant to get to it...
This week I'm pointing you in the direction of the Gay Anarchist Yoga and Erotic Cooking Association Podcast, or GAYECAPod for short.
This podcast does reviews of queer movies through the years. While it starts out with a gameshow type of format, it switches over to more straightforward conversations about movies in Episode 19, which reviews The Birdcage. The episodes cover not only the plot of the movies, but also various bits of behind-the-scenes trivia and the culture in which the movies were made. As someone who still isn't very involved with the queer community in brickspace, I've found it an interesting and approachable method for learning more about queer history, particularly through the lens of media; media that I could hypothetically pick up from the library, even.
Unfortunately, I don't believe there are transcripts available for GAYECAPod at this time, and some of the audio can be a bit hard to make out, due in part to varying mic quality. If you have the ability and the inclination, though, it can make for an entertaining and enlightening listen.
Do you have a rec for this week? Just reply to this post with something queer or queer-adjacent (such as, soap made by a queer person that isn't necessarily queer themed) that you'd, well, recommend. Self-recs are welcome, as are recs for fandom-related content!
Or have you tried something that's been recced here? Do you have your own report to share about it? I'd love to hear about it!
