Actually on Thursday, too!
My rec this week is to do what you can to keep a healthy body temperature. A lot of us in the northern hemisphere are getting absolutely slammed by winter storms right now, while things are only heating up in the southern hemisphere. Be sure to follow locally appropriate weather related advice to the best of your ability!
Do you have a rec for this week? Just reply to this post with something queer or queer-adjacent (such as, soap made by a queer person that isn't necessarily queer themed) that you'd, well, recommend. Self-recs are welcome, as are recs for fandom-related content!
Or have you tried something that's been recced here? Do you have your own report to share about it? I'd love to hear about it!

Date: 2022-12-23 04:34 am (UTC)As an add on to your rec, for those in hot weather, remember that water is your friend. Stay hydrated. Wet clothes on skin pull heat away from you (cotton is very good for that). Hot air blowing over water cools down which can be used to help cool things down if the humidity is low.
In terms of a queer thing by queer creators, I shall rec Stars in Their Eyes, written by Jessica Walton and illustrated by Aśka. Absolutely gorgeous short graphic story about a teenager going to a fancon. Description snitched from elsewhere:

Date: 2022-12-23 05:04 am (UTC)melt butter in a sauce pot. saute diced onions with a bit of salt. no, saute longer than that. longer. we're not looking for caramelized onions (though that wouldn't hurt), just for the onions to stop tasting sharp.
also saute sliced carrots and celery, until they start to soften.
also saute minced garlic, until fragrant.
stir in canned chicken, including the water from the can. (draining the can into a measuring cup in order to make it easier to separate the canned chicken into smaller bits is easiest.)
add enough chicken bouillon to turn the canned-chicken water into broth, plus either actual chicken broth or more water plus more bouillon.
season to taste: I usually do Montreal steak seasoning, Healing salt blend from Inked Goddess Creations, Worchestershire sauce, brown sugar, ground ginger, and MSG.
bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. let simmer for at least fifteen minutes. serve with added rice or noodles (cooked separately) or bread with a good stiff crust.
(proportions? cook times? what are those? I'm never paying that much attention. I only know simmer at least fifteen minutes because the premade just-toss-in-the-oven loaves of crusty bread we buy take fifteen minutes to bake.)

Date: 2022-12-23 05:27 am (UTC)Going to do a shameless self-rec because I've actually felt inspired to write lately! I've been using prompts in
rainbowlists to get more practice writing with my original characters/story. So far it's mostly been relationship/character exploration, and I try to drop some hints at the larger world within those.
What it's about: 50-ish years after the apocalypse, a bunch of strange people live in a theme park. And weirdly, it's mostly slice of life so far? But there's still conflict, because I can't help myself. I like exploring character dynamics. Also I'm 99% sure all of the characters are either queer, neurodivergent, or both.
