Hello, all, it's Thursday Recs time again!

Do you have a rec for this week? Just reply to this post with something queer or queer-adjacent (such as, soap made by a queer person that isn't necessarily queer themed) that you'd, well, recommend. Self-recs are welcome, as are recs for fandom-related content!

Or have you tried something that's been recced here? Do you have your own report to share about it? I'd love to hear about it!

self-rec here!

I have some works up on AO3 that are SO QUEER. Two freestanding Man from UNCLE stories; then, same fandom, the first two works of a long series are posted, and I'm nearly done with the next one. I'm jessaminehughes over there.

I read T. Kingfisher's What Moves the Dead last week and it was great. It's a novella length retelling of "The Fall of the House of Usher" with a genderqueer protagonist/POV character and an awesome mycologist side character (Beatrix Potter's fictional Aunt Eugenia). I love the way the story used alternate history to highlight societal gender roles. Also just a really fun horror story. Content warning for body horror, mind control, fungal horror, mild/quickly corrected misgendering, and, erm, everything that happens in Poe's original story.

Episode 3 (aired last Sunday) of the new The Last of Us tv show. I feel like even people who aren’t into the game or show would have all the feels for that episode. It gives the backstory of two characters and is just… I can’t say anything more about it than that.

Dropout.tv! Lots of queer creators and (for the fictional parts) queer characters, including multiple non-binary people. I posted in more detail on my other blog:

Editing from the first post: It's about $9AU/$6US a month for access to a large backlog of generally humourous shows. The ones I have been watching the most are the nerdy game show Um Actually, the scifi roleplaying show Dimension 20: A Starstruck Odyssey, and the fantasy roleplaying show Dimension 20: Fantasy High. There's also a bunch of other silly game shows, comedy skits, and roleplaying.

On my posts I link to some free parts on youtube.
